American Legion Post 83 General Meeting Minutes February 19, 2026
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Commander Will Vollmer
Officers Present: Commander Will Vollmer, Adjutant Harley G. Farley, Finance Officer Philip Highwood, Service Officer Arlene Taylor, Chaplain Ron Welch, Sgt at Arms Dave Parrish, E-Board at Large Luke McDonald, John Hampton,
General Membership
Absent: 2nd Vice Brittney Green, E-Board at Large Dan Buckwald, E-Board at Large Jim Riggs.
The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance followed by prayer. There were no meeting minutes from the previous meeting to be reviewed.
Finance Report – All signature cards at the various banks have been updated. 1099 is being prepared to be filed for tax season. The financial report will be updated monthly and put in the drawer in the annex so it can be viewed by all patrons.
Service Officer Report – Memorial service Sunday upstairs, need help removing tables and sitting up chairs.
Historians Report – None
Sick Call and Relief – None
SAL Report – None
Auxiliary Report – None
Riders Report – None
Membership: 232 members renewed for 2026 approx. 92%. 1/1/26 membership cards will be checked in the lounge to ensure that all are renewed for all entities. Meeting minutes are now available on the website, www.americanlegionpost83.org, hard copies will no longer be printed soon to save money. Elections are coming up in April for the legion and all entities, boards will be posted soon
Old Business – Saturdays memorial service is canceled.
Eagle Scout Straum reports that the Flag Drop off box is nearly complete. He will meet with Brian Ware to select the best location for it, so it doesn’t interfere with grounds maintenance.
New Business: New key cards and door access to the post will be coming soon to get in line with security and OLCC regulations.
Sign up sheets will be going up in the bar for volunteers to prepare meals for various days of the week and to be served at the post. The point of contact is Jesse the lead bartender.
Emerald Empire Young Marines are looking for some volunteer leadership. The commander has information if interested.
Good of the Order – Perry Theide presented the Cottage Grove Norwegian Foot March is coming up if anyone is interested in participating. The march is held at Dorena Lake.
All motions were seconded and passed unanimously.
The next meeting will be on March 19, 2026 1830 hrs.
There being no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 7:05 pm following prayer.
