American Legion Post 83 General Meeting Minutes January 15, 2026
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Commander Will Vollmer
Officers Present: Commander Will Vollmer, 2nd Vice Brittney Green, Adjutant Harley G. Farley, Finance Officer Philip Highwood, Service Officer Arlene Taylor, Sgt at Arms Dave Parrish, E-Board at Large Luke McDonald, John Hampton, Kayla Brown.
General Membership
Absent: Historian Hal Fletcher, E-Board at Large Dan Buckwald, E-Board at Large Jim Riggs.
The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance followed by prayer. There were no meeting minutes from the previous meeting to be reviewed.
Finance Report – Finances are good, we have money in the bank. Christmas tree sales figures are not available yet.
Service Officer Report - None
Historians Report – None
Sick Call and Relief – None
SAL Report – None
Auxiliary Report – None
Riders Report – None
Membership: 218 members renewed for 2026 approx. 82%. 1/1/26 membership cards will be checked in the lounge to ensure that all are renewed for all entities. Meeting minutes are now available on the website, www.americanlegionpost83.org hard copies will no longer be printed soon to save cost.
Old Business – Still looking at possibilities for insurance. Not a lot available that is cost effective, may look at bonding or a rider.
New Business: Kaeli Wise is now the new contact for the post Calander, she requests all updates and additions go through her, she will be at the Entertainment Committee meetings monthly and encourages others to attend and contribute.
Driveway maintenance was done by Delta Sand and Gravel. Thanks for the nice work.
New building plans are about 90% complete with the city, should be finalized soon so we can move forward with construction bidding and actual construction with hopes to complete in a few years.
Good of the Order – It was discussed to change the meeting time to 6:30. Motion passed unanimously.
New drink tokens are available in the bar, much more professional, all older tokens that were used will still be honored for a short time, get them redeemed soon.
The flag box by the Eagle Scout is still moving forward. He had to submit plans to committees for approval of his project. Must be completed before he turns 18.
Veteran’s Legacy Camp Alma is holding a fundraising campaign, donations being accepted currently, you can donate $5.00 per month through the QR code available. The hope is to get 1,000 monthly donors generating steady funds. Come visit the camp and interact with the veterans they love the time.
All motions were seconded and passed unanimously.
The next meeting will be February 19, 2026 1830 hrs.
There being no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm following prayer.
