American Legion Post 83 General Meeting Minutes November 20, 2025
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Commander Will Vollmer
Officers Present: Commander Will Vollmer, Adjutant Harley G. Farley, Finance Officer Philip Highwood, Service Officer Arlene Taylor, Historian Hal Fletcher, Sgt at Arms Dave Parrish; E-Board at Large Luke McDonald, John Hampton, Kayla Brown.
General Membership
Absent: 2nd Vice Brittney Green, E-Board at Large Dan Buckwald, E-Board at Large Jim Riggs.
The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance followed by prayer. There were no meeting minutes from the previous meeting to be reviewed.
Finance Report – Insurance is on an automatic payment rotation. A quick Books online course will be offered for the current and incoming finance officers, A finance audit was performed this week, all went well with a few minor corrections needed.
Service Officer Report - None
Historians Report – A new calendar is coming available that will have events posted for the year. Kaili Wise will oversee the calendar
Sick Call and Relief – None
SAL Report – None
Auxiliary Report – None
Riders Report – None
Membership: 169 members renewed for 2026 approx. 62%. 1/1/26 membership cards will be checked in the lounge to ensure that all are renewed for all entities.
Old Business – Flags were retired and will be maintained going forward.
New Business – The post was contacted about helping a new veteran mother who had fallen on hard times during the government shutdown. The post donated $200 and the Auxiliary donated $150.00 from the Veteran’s Relief Fund. Philip will go out and purchase much needed infant formula and other necessities.
Wreaths Across America will be held 12/13/25 details are posted.
Holiday Party is 12/20/25 Gifts limited to $20.00. The event is a potluck.
Christmas tree sales start the day after Thanksgiving sign up in the lounge volunteers are needed.
The auxiliary will be doing troop boxes the weekend of Thanksgiving, they need service member names and addresses as well as donation items and volunteers to help.
Lebanon Soldiers Home Holiday bizarre is December 6th you are encouraged to participate.
The annual Santa Christmas ride with the riders is 12/16 KSU at 6:00 pm. Riding to Lone Oaks Assisted Living for a visit, then light sightseeing in the Gilham Rd neighborhood then a stop off at the Alibi in Springfield to thank Jeff for his generous efforts and contributions to Post 83.

There being no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm following prayer.
